Beefmaster cattle were developed in the early 1930s by Tom Lasater, a Texas rancher. Lasater aimed to create a breed of cattle with the best qualities for beef production. The Beefmaster cattle breed is one of the first American composite cattle breeds and was specifically bred as a dual-purpose breed.
